Seniors who continue to live at home have access to a variety of transportation services. An aging elderly population will continue to increase the need for transportation for the elderly now and in the future.
Many private, government and nonprofit organizations offer transportation services for seniors. Some of which offer services that pick them up at their homes. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires communities and public transportation agencies to provide transit services to people with disabilities. Many seniors qualify for this transportation.
Some health care providers, including Medicaid, also provide these services at little or no cost. Many private transportation companies also provide these services, by providing door-to-door service for a fee.
