There are several ways to treat scars caused by bug bites, including the use of steroid injections, surgery, filler injections and laser resurfacing, according to WebMD. Most treatment options look at improving the look of the scar; no treatment can currently remove scars altogether.
Steroids are sometimes injected into the scar to flatten the scar somewhat. Surgery to alter the shape of the scar or reduce its visibility is another option for large, appearance-altering scars. Laser resurfacing is becoming more popular for reducing the scar's appearance, according to the University of Michigan's Department of Surgery, and it works by removing skin's surface layers via laser. Filler injections can raise sunken scars to make them less noticeable.
