Calculate your resting metabolic rate - the number of calories your body burns doing normal daily activities. Multiply your body weight in pounds by 13. Calculate the numbers of calories you burn with formal exercise and add that number to your resting metabolic rate to determine the number of calories your body burns in a given day. Keep your food consumption below that number.
Drink a minimum of 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight. If you weigh 200 pounds, that translates to 100 ounces of water.
Starchy foods like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice encourage your body to store fat. Consider serving size to be 1 cup, and limit total daily servings to three to five.
