As of May 2015, Qsymia and Belviq are available through CVS and Walgreens, according to the pharmacy websites. Qsymia.com and Belviq.com offer free trials of the diet pills, the product websites state. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved both as prescription medications for weight loss, WebMD advises.
Possible side effects of Qsymia include numbness of the hands and feet, low blood sugar in diabetics, depression and insomnia, as stated by the product website. Possible side effects of Belviq include heart valve problems, depression and suicidal thoughts, and birth defects if taken during pregnancy, the Belviq website explains. The manufacturers don't know if the medications are safe and effective for children under 18 or when taken with other weight loss products.
