However, Tylenol recommends that pregnant or breast-feeding women consult medical professionals before using the drug. Tylenol PM combines acetaminophen for pain relief and Benadryl, also known as diphenhydramine HCl, for sleeplessness.
Parents indicates that prolonged use of Tylenol PM should be avoided due to possible serious reactions, such as depression, brain or stomach damage, and withdrawal seizures. In addition, long-term users are at risk of developing a tolerance to the medication's effects. Tylenol warns that overuse of this product sometimes leads to liver damage. Tylenol PM should not be combined with alcohol, and no one under 12 years old should take the drug.
