WebMD and HowStuffWorks provide pictures of fungal rashes. WebMD provides a slideshow of pictures depicting different types of fungal rashes, while HowStuffWorks gives a few pictures and descriptions of each of the five types of skin fungus.
One of the main types of skin fungus is ringworm, a ring-shaped rash that is raised and bumpy, explains WebMD. Because it is highly contagious, people need to be careful in public and avoid sharing personal items. Humans can also contract ringworm from pets, states HowStuffWorks. Tinea cruris, more commonly known as jock itch, is another common skin fungus that typically occurs in the inner thighs, groin area and anus. This itchy rash becomes scaly over time and can burn, but topical creams help to alleviate the symptoms.
Athlete's foot is another common fungal rash that at least one out of five people have, according to HowStuffWorks. This fungus causes lesions on the soles and heels of the feet as well as between the toes. It can cause the skin to blister, crack and bleed. Burning, itching and peeling skin are symptoms of the fungal infection. This rash is associated with athletes because the fungus thrives in the warm, moist environments provided by sweaty shoes. Treatments include antifungal cream and over-the-counter medications.
