Drug information is available to look up online at Drugs.com, RxList.com and the websites of the Mayo Clinic and MedlinePlus, which is run by National Institutes of Health, as of March 2015. Each website allows the user to search using a drug name or browse by starting letter.
The information available includes side effects, recommended dosages, interactions with other drugs and other general information. Contraindications, warnings and medication guides are also available.
Drugs.com provides visual comparisons of different pills of the same drug. For example, its list comparing different aspirin pills contains dozens of pill types.
RxList and the Mayo Clinic give information about specific brand names of the same drug, and MedlinePlus puts up alert banners on the pages of drugs that have news regarding the Food and Drug Administration.
