A list of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms for adults may be found at reliable online resources such as the National Institute of Mental Health, Mayo Clinic or at WebMD. Each website includes symptoms, treatment options and helpful information concerning PTSD, as of 2015.
PTSD symptoms are grouped into three categories, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. The first category is re-experiencing, which includes flashbacks, bad dreams and frightening thoughts. The second category is avoidance, which includes feeling numb, staying away from reminders of the event or having trouble remembering the event. The third category is hyperarousal, which includes feeling on edge, feeling startled easily and having difficulty sleeping or angry episodes.
