To safely gain 15 pounds in a month, eat lots of healthy, calorie-rich foods; consume six meals per day; take protein supplements; and exercise. Avoid drinking water before meals to maximize your appetite, explains WebMD.
According to WebMD, to gain weight, you need to eat foods that are rich in healthy fats. Avoid empty calories and sugar. Eat foods that have significant nutritional value, and include minerals, vitamins, nutrients and calories. Some ideals foods are pasta, whole-grain bread, cereal, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Drink shakes made from fruits, milk and ground flax seed.
Instead of eating three large meals per day, eat six moderately sized meals, notes WebMD. Include starches, vegetables, proteins and fat whenever possible. Using dairy-based condiments, such as mayonnaise, thousand island dressing or ranch dressing, is a good way to get additional calories without getting too full. You can also add olive oil to a meal for extra calories.
Instead of drinking water, drink juices with substantial amounts of calories. To keep your appetite strong, try to eat a variety of different foods seasoned with spices and herbs. Going for a walk before eating is another way to build an appetite. Exercising and strength training can help to build body mass, so do at least one hour of exercise each day, recommends Mayo Clinic.
