Daily exercise and increasing physical activity are two good ways to improve heart health in people with atrial fibrillation, reports Mayo Clinic. Eating a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight and not smoking are other lifestyle changes that can help people with atrial fibrillation take care of their hearts.
In atrial fibrillation, the heart beats irregularly and too fast, and this compromises the heart's ability to circulate blood throughout the body, explains Mayo Clinic. Maintaining healthy levels of blood pressure and cholesterol are important factors in controlling atrial fibrillaion. Women and men over 65 with atrial fibrillation can have only one drink a day, while men with the condition may have two drinks a day if they are under 65.
