Find a Celebrate Recovery program through a local church or use the Celebrate Recovery website to find a program near you. If no Celebrate Recovery groups are in your area, contact Celebrate Recovery to begin one.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that is similar to Alcoholics Anonymous' 12-step program. The main difference is that Celebrate Recovery acknowledges Jesus Christ as the Higher Power instead of the individual being able to choose a higher power that suits him and uses the words of Jesus as found in the Bible instead of psychological theory to facilitate recovery. It is a very involved program with the ultimate goal of equipping participants to help the next generation of participants. Through the four-book series, participants gain understanding about themselves and how to provide help to others. Once a participant has completed half the program, she is ready to mentor someone beginning the program.
Celebrate Recovery is offered through churches so that participants have the option to get connected to a local church and a larger support group than the attendees of a support group. Participants are encouraged to get involved with the local church through serving and attending weekly worship services. Saddleback Church in southern California pioneered and created Celebrate Recovery in 1995. The program is designed to help people with a wide variety of addictions in a way that single-addiction support groups do not.
