A body detox flush is a process by which toxins are eliminated from the body. Typically, this is a juice or water fast that lasts between three and seven days. Sometimes a detox flush uses foods such as grains and vegetables to assist in the process, according to WebMD.
A body detox, or detoxification, flush can take many forms, and it's up to the individual to do what he feels comfortable in doing. A water flush consists of drinking large amounts of water and eating or drinking nothing else for the duration of the flush. A juice flush has the participant drinking and often eating large amounts of fruit and fruit juice, states WebMD.
In addition to a specific diet, a body detox flush can also consist of cleaning boosters such as herbal laxatives, probiotics to restore healthy bacteria, antioxidants and colonics. There are also massages, meditation, scented baths and walking to help with the flush. The primary purpose of a body detox flush, the removal of toxins from the body, does have some scientific evidence to it, according to WebMD. The human body does build up toxins and becomes sluggish over time. A body detox flush can help remove those toxins and restore the body to a more healthy state.
