Proponents of primrose oil capsules claim they treat of skin disorders, high cholesterol, gastrointestinal disorders and pain during pregnancies. They are most often used for therapeutic purposes to ease pain or discomfort, but they can also prevent nerve damage from diabetes, counter impotence, and treat Alzheimer's disease and alcohol withdrawal.
The reason that primrose oil is so beneficial is due to its high levels of gamma-linolenic acid. The fatty acid GLA is responsible for maintaining cell structure and function in joints, regulating hormones and improving skin elasticity. Research indicates that it may also help slow blood clotting. The evening primrose from which primrose oil is extracted contains one of the highest concentrations of GLA known to science.
