United American Insurance Co. advises consumers to contact the company directly to apply for a Medicare supplement plan, states the company website. This can be done via phone or through the website's contact page. United American is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CST Monday through Friday.
The company offers 10 of 11 Medicare supplement plans that are outlined by the federal government, according to the United American website. These plans are A, B, C, D, F/HDF, G, K, L and N, but the available plans can vary by state. Customers who purchase a Medicare supplement plan through United American must already have standard Medicare Part A and Part B coverage (different from supplemental plans A and B) that include hospital stays, hospice care, medical expenses and blood transfusions.
Supplemental Medicare plans are designed to cover the expenses that basic Medicare doesn't pay, United American states. This can include out-of-pocket costs such as co-pays, coinsurance and deductibles. Medicare supplement plans may also include medical expenses while traveling outside of the United States and may cover expenses for stays in a skilled nursing facility.
Customers do have to pay a separate monthly premium for Medicare supplement plans, according to Medicare.gov. This premium is paid directly to the insurance company and makes the policy guaranteed renewable, even if the plan holder's medical circumstances change.
