According to RxList, amoxicillin can interact with other medications, including probenecid,
allopurinol, oral contraceptives, oral anticoagulants and other antibiotics. Caution is recommended when using amoxicillin in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Common side effects of amoxicillin include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. RxList states that serious side effects, such as white patches inside the mouth, fever, swollen glands, joint pain, unusual bruising or bleeding, muscle weakness and yellowing of the skin or eyes, require immediate medical attention.
