Amino acid diets contain high protein. An amino acid diet supplies amino acids through protein-rich foods and assists the body with fat loss. Human bodies do not store amino acids for later use, therefore amino acids in the daily diet is essential.
The body can synthesize some types of amino acids on it's own. Those not synthesized by our bodies are supplied through diet. The nine amino acids that are essential to our health but cannot be synthesized by the body include tryptophan, methionine, leucine, valine, threonine, phenylalanine and histidine. These amino acids are found in meat, dairy, cereal grains and legumes. Milk and meat products are considered complete protein for the body because they include all nine of the body's missing amino acids. Vegetarians get amino acids from protein-rich vegetables like beans. According to The American Heart Association, most plant proteins are deficient in one or more amino acids and are considered incomplete proteins.
A deficiency in amino acids is a deficiency in protein. These deficiencies cause poor effects on the body, including poor brain and kidney function, low immune systems, elevated risks of infection, weak muscles, dull skin and thin hair. Failure to consume even one essential amino acid results in the body's degradation of proteins, then the body's muscles and so on.
