Searches on the 55 Places site can be done in two ways. Either use the drop-down menu to choose a state of interest or click on the map. The next page shows the different regions of the state, and the regions are broken down by county. Further down the right side of the page, the search can be refined by type of home, price range and amenities. The following page displays a map of the chosen area with the communities indicated; a list of the towns is on the right side, and below that are the names of the communities. Each community indicates the price range, the number of homes, and whether they are new construction or previously owned.

Clicking on a particular community opens a page that contains complete information on floor plans, which homes are for sale, the amenities and directions.

The Top Retirements site also allows for a search by state. Click on the a state to bring up a map and a list of cities that contain communities. Choosing a city brings up another page with a list of communities. Selecting a community brings the search to another page that contains a detailed description of the community and a link to their website.

On the left side of the 55 Community Guide home page, there is a listing of the kinds of senior residences. Choosing the category of interest creates a description and listing of some communities within that category. The site also offers hints for finding the best community for each individual.
