Is 5 Feet 10 Inches Considered Short?

Whether a particular height is "short" is relative to the person and the company he keeps. However, 5 feet 10 inches is above average height for a man or woman, according to data last reviewed in 2012 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC data reveals that men have an average height of 69.3 inches and women have an average height of 63.8 inches. At 5 feet 10 inches, a woman is generally regarded as "tall." A man at this height is just slightly above average so is generally not considered "short." However, in some environments, a person of this height is relatively short. Business CEOs are taller than the norm, with an average height just below 6 feet, notes Canadian journalist Malcolm Gladwell. As of 2014, the average height of professional athletes is around 6 feet and 1 inch, reports Tony Manfred for Business Insider.
