How Do You Visit the Nigerian Embassy in New York?

The Federal Republic of Nigeria does not have an embassy in New York; it does, however, maintain a consulate in New York. The New York Nigerian Consulate General may be visited at the address listed on its Web page, or contacted by telephone at the number listed under the Contacts tab on its Web page. The embassy for the Federal Republic of Nigeria is located in Washington, D.C.

You can also contact the consulate by completing the Request Form on the Contacts page. The consulate assists Nigerian citizens with getting replacement passports, notarizing documents or shipping a loved one’s remains home to Nigeria.

Click on the Registration tab for a Nigerian traveling in the United States to complete the registration process. This lets the Nigerian government know how many of its nationals are traveling in the United States, so they may be accounted for in the event of a disaster. Registration also prompts the issuance of a Nigerian citizenship card. Knowing the number of Nigerians in the United States also helps the consulate lobby the Nigerian government to grant absentee voting rights to Nigerians abroad.

For non-citizens, the Consulate General assists in issuing visas for business or pleasure travel to Nigeria, as of November 2015.
