Veteran's service officers empathize with the various problems that war veterans face. It is for this reason that they attend numerous seminars and meetings to discuss various laws that can make the lives of veterans better. Some of the laws that veteran's service officers are familiar with include the exemption of veterans from property tax, and other similar benefits that are unique to war veterans.
These officers also assist the veterans’ families to access various benefits provided by the Veterans Affairs Department. Through the help of veteran's service officers, veterans are in a position to file claims such as vocational rehabilitation benefits, disability benefits claims and burial benefits, among others. Veteran's service officers can also assist with obtaining home loans, offer educational assistance and serve as an advocate for veterans' spouses and widows.
