The MnDOC offender locator allows those who know the first name, last name, birthdate or MnDOC offender ID of an individual to track his current location in the Department of Corrections system. Users simply enter this information in the provided search fields and press the search button to allow the system to review the database for matching entries. The system provides information on which individuals are currently in prison and which are serving time under supervision.

A separate page allows users to search for level 3 predatory offenders by city, ZIP code or name. These offenders must register their whereabouts under Minnesota law and, as such, are always considered under supervision. The level 3 predatory offenders page updates within 48 hours of law-enforcement notification that an offender with this designation now lives in a particular part of Minnesota. Only cities that have level 3 predatory offenders registered as living within their borders appear on the page's drop-down menu.
