As of April 2015, CBS offers three types of accounts for users intending to communicate with inmates, explains Inmate Telephone Service. The AdvanceConnect account is prepaid and can be linked to several telephone numbers. In contrast, Traditional Collect accounts allow users to accept calls and pay for them later; the charges appear on their normal phone bills. The Direct Bill account is more specialized and is targeted at non-standard users such as government agencies and businesses.

Users can use a variety of methods to pay for these services, explains Inmate Telephone Services. Subscribers to AdvanceConnect accounts can pay online using personal checking accounts, credit cards or debit cards. Payments can also be made through Western Union using cash, money orders, cashier's checks, credit cards and debit cards. Payments can also be made by mailing personal checks, money orders or cashier's checks to CBS. Refunds are only available if requested within 180 days after the last call.
