The Army body fat calculator calculates body fat percentage using the U.S. Army Regulations of Standards of Medical Fitness formula. First used in August 2011, this formula uses weight and measurements to determine body fat percentage. Men's body fat is calculated using height, waist and neck measurements, while women's uses height, waist, neck and hip.
To get accurate measurements, stand straight with both of your arms down at your sides. When measuring your neck, put the measuring tape just below your larynx. Measure your waist with the tape at the same level as your belly button. Take each measurement three times, and use the average of the three as your base.
To qualify for enlistment in the U.S. Army, your body fat percentage must fall in the required range determined by the Department of Defense. The maximum body fat percentage allowed for females ranges from 32 to 36 percent; for males, maximum body fat percentage is 26 to 30 percent.Learn more about Military
