Alexander is a senior senator in the U.S. Senate. Prior to his term in the Senate, he worked as an assistant to President Richard Nixon. Alexander was also governor of Tennessee from 1979 to 1987 and served as Secretary of Education to George H.W. Bush.

Corker is a junior senator in the U.S. Senate. A former owner of a construction company, Corker went on to become Tennessee Commissioner of Finance and Administration in 1994. He became mayor of Chattanooga in 2001. Corker is a ranking member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
