Is There a U.S. Military Outpost in Nigeria?

As of 2015, there is no U.S. military outpost in Nigeria. The only active U.S. military presence in Nigeria is a team of U.S. troops alongside civilian advisers that were sent to aid in the search of schoolgirls that were abducted during a Boko Haram raid in 2014.

Aside from the 2014 support team, there are also 50 U.S. military personnel who are part of the regular assignment to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria as well as 20 marines deployed for training. The largest U.S. military presence in the African continent is located at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti with a formal troop complement of 4,000 alongside various types of drones and aircraft.
