What Tennessee property ownership information is publicly available?

Quick Answer

For 81 of state's 95 counties, the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury maintains a search-able online database that provides the owner's name and mailing address for each parcel of real estate. The COT database also provides parcel street addresses, improvements, available utilities, acreage, recent sales data and market valuations.

The COT database can be accessed at http://www.assessment.cot.tn.gov/RE_Assessment as of 2015.

To use the COT database to locate information about a specific property, first click on the county in which the parcel is located. Next, enter whatever information you have available about the parcel into the appropriate field. This will bring up a list of all parcels within the county that match the information provided. Click on specific items within the list to view detailed information about individual parcels. Note that, for the 14 counties not included in the COT database, the COT site provides links to county-maintained databases which, in general, provide the same information as the COT database.
