Full Answer

Income is defined as wages, tips, salary, commission, cash, self-employment income, allowances for meals or lodging and bonuses.

Income may also include payments for outstanding sick, holiday and vacation pay, pension or 401k payments from a fund to which an employer contributed, employer-funded insurance for a loss of wages, and payments made related to employment separation such as severance pay.

At the federal level, unemployment benefits do not affect the payment a Social Security recipient receives.
