Some of the services that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington, D.C. offers are entry visa application services and authentication services for powers of attorney to be used in Russia. The Russian Embassy also grants multiple types of entry visas for American citizens.
American tourists, travelers and businesspeople with the need to travel in or through Russia may apply for visas at the Russian embassy in Washington, D.C. by submitting a series of documents and paying a fee. As of 2015, the fee for processing a non-urgent Russian single or double-entry visa in the private, humanitarian, tourist or business categories is $160. The embassy recommends Americans apply for a three-year, multiple entry visa when possible.
In addition to visa application and processing, the embassy can certify power of attorney on behalf of one or more principals in the name of one or more agents. This certification only takes place when the powers of attorney are to be used in Russia. Individuals who wish to gain power of attorney in Russia need to have their identities and mental capacities verified by the Russian Embassy. The embassy charges a fee for this service; the cost varies depending on the citizenship of the principal and the purpose of the authentication.
