The Orange County Adult Public Health Nursing Services offers free education, health screening and referrals. The Visiting Nurse Service of New York provides hospice care and home care for various medical conditions.
The Orange County APHNS assists with the identification of health issues and finding the right health care and social services needed by the patient. It does not provide medical treatment, though it does refer patients to medical service providers The registered public health nurses in the program also educate groups on disease prevention and management. Some of the medical conditions covered are heart diseases, arthritis, diabetes and depression.
The VNSNY is the largest nonprofit health care service provider in the United States. VNSNY provides nursing services as requested by doctors. Home care nursing covers monitoring vital signs, administration of medications and rehabilitation. Personal services, such as bathing, cooking and companionship, may also be provided. Nursing care is given for chronic medical conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, cancer and stroke. Maternity, newborn services and senior care are also offered.
VNSNY offers corporate and community wellness programs to assist in disease identification, prevention and management. Palliative and hospice care is given to patients with life-limiting conditions to preserve their dignity and give them comfort. VNSNY bills private or corporate insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Charitable care is given to insured and under-insured patients.
