As of 2014, Sears does not offer a military discount on all of the store's merchandise, but it does offer a 10 percent discount on regularly priced tools. The customer must have a valid military or veteran ID.
Sears has many programs that support the military and families of the military. Its military pay differential, which fills the gap between employer pay and military pay, is continued for five years for its employees who are called to duty in the National Guard or Reserves. Sears is a founding member of the Army Spouse Employment Partnership, which provides a resource for helping service members' spouses find employment. Sears was the sponsor of the Operation Purple Summer Camps for children of deployed military personnel. Sears created the Heroes at Home program in partnership with Rebuilding Together; the program provides repairs and adaptations to the homes of military families.
