Several online sources provide a transcript of the preamble to the United States Constitution, including government-affiliated websites such as the National Archives and Records Administration, or NARA, and the Bureau of International Information Programs under the U.S. Department of State. A digital image of the preamble is also posted on the official website of the Library of Congress.
The preamble serves as the preliminary statement where it explains the purpose of the Constitution and the inherent power of the citizens to form a government. Aside from the preamble, NARA also includes all the articles of the Constitution and a list of the Founding Fathers of the country. The image posted by the Library of Congress contains hand-written corrections made by President George Washington during a convention held in 1787.
