Scott Peterson has been living on San Quentin’s death row since 2005, when he was sentenced for the murder of his wife, Laci, and their unborn child, Conner. Peterson’s life reportedly has been more comfortable than that of the typical California death row inmate, with regular access to a rooftop deck that includes a basketball court, as of November 2015. Most other death row inmates at San Quentin are locked in their cells 23 hours a day.
California death row inmates may decorate their cells with photographs and collages almost any way they wish. Scott Peterson has only one picture in his cell across from his bunk, which is a picture of himself smiling with Laci.
Scott Peterson reportedly stays in good shape playing basketball. When he interacts with other death row inmates, he smiles and makes jokes, according to some accounts. He allegedly shows no remorse for killing his wife and unborn child.
Scott Peterson, who is now 36, was sentenced to die by lethal injection after being convicted of his wife and child’s murder. Laci Peterson went missing on Christmas Eve 2002, but shortly thereafter Conner’s not-yet fully developed body washed ashore from San Francisco Bay. The next day, Laci’s headless torso was found.
