SSI benefits are paid the first day of each month, according to Nolo. If the first falls on the weekend or legal holiday, the benefits are paid the banking day before.
If the payments are sent through the mail, sometimes those payments can be delayed, says Nolo. The Social Security Administration suggests calling if the check is not received by the fourth banking day of the month. Any individual who applied for SSI after May 1, 2011, receives his payments by direct deposit or another electronic payment form, but the payment schedule for electronic payments remains the same, according to Nolo.
