The next census is scheduled for 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. However, a census test is to be conducted in Harris County, Texas and Los Angeles, California. This test is designed to help improve census operations in preparation for Census 2020.

The American Community Surveys is ongoing, and residents may be selected for a survey, the Census Bureau advises. A notice should arrive through the mail with instructions to visit the survey page at respond.census.gov/acs. There you should be prompted to enter the 10-digit ID number that came with the notice. The system asks you to confirm the address on the survey, and a new PIN should be generated if confirmed.

The PIN is critical as it is the one you need to use to log back in or if the system times out. As you begin the survey, you are asked for your name and telephone number. The survey should ask about other people staying at the address and their demographics, relationships, sexes, ages, races and ethnicities. The next questions are about your home.
