What Are Resources for Finding Crime Rates by Race?

The Federal Bureau of Investigation tracks crime rates by race in its annual publication, "Crime in the United States." The FBI is one of the best sources for demographic crime data in the United States because they track all arrests for each year.

In 2013, the most recent year for which data is available, 68.9 percent of all people arrested for crimes tracked by the FBI were white 28.3 percent of arrestees were black and 1.6 percent were American Indians. Table 43 in "Crime in the United States" breaks down this data in detail for each category of crime. In addition, Table 43B contains the same information about juvenile arrests.
