Caring Cars, 1-800-Charity Cars and Good News Garage provide free cars to people in need. Some of these programs are location-specific, meaning only people living in a certain area are eligible for the free car.
Free cars at 1-800-Charity Cars are available for people who are medically or financially needy, as well as military members, veterans and people living in a shelter. Victims of domestic violence are also eligible for the cars. The person or family must show an inability to afford a car without help.
Caring Cars helps people in north central Alabama. This organization requires people to have a job or show proof of being employed within a month of getting a free car. The person with the free car has to keep his job and continue showing proof of working for at least a year afterward.
