BT offers a free U.K. phone directory called The Phone Book. The book is separated by regions and delivered free to all residential housing. A full version for the whole nation is available online and is searchable by name and area.
As of 2015, BT, formerly known as British Telecom, is the largest telecommunications provider in the United Kingdom. At one point, BT controlled all fixed landlines in Britain. As people have begun to move away from fixed lines and towards cellular phones, BT has added a mobile division. BT is also a big player in the broadband field, being among the first companies in the United Kingdom to offer fiber-optic Internet.
