A traffic ticket issued in New York City can be paid in any Traffic Violations Bureau, or TVB, office. The bureau is affiliated with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and it is tasked to settle noncriminal traffic violations in Rochester, Buffalo and New York City.
Paying for a traffic ticket indicates a guilty plea and generally does not require a court appearance. Aside from directly paying at a TVB office in New York City, a person can also pay through the mail, via the telephone, online or in a traffic court. To pay for a traffic violation, the ticket number and client identification number are usually required.
