You can pay your Texas DPS Driver Responsibility Surcharge by visiting the Texas Department of Public Safety and making a payment through the online payment portal, reports the department. You can also pay the surcharge through Western Union or by mailing a check or money order.
If you would like to pay your surcharge online, you can pay using a debit card, credit card or electronic check. Electronic checks may be used using a money market account, savings account or checking account, as long as those accounts are drawn through a United States bank. Directs on how to pay using Western Union can be found on the Texas Surcharge Online website, explains the Texas Department of Public Safety.
You also have the option to pay your surcharge in full, or make monthly payments under the installment plan by receiving a monthly payment amount, voucher and due date. All monthly payments have the same due date. Once you implement an installment plan, a monthly notice and voucher are mailed to you, but you must make the payment even if you don't receive the notice and voucher. If you make a payment without a voucher, you should include your full name, Texas drivers license and ID number, and reference numbers on your money order or check, explains the department.
