The minority college grant program awards money to students who represent different segments of the population. These grants bring a larger degree of diversity to student bodies and more minority students into universities.
For students to become eligible for minority grants, they must meet certain prerequisites and requirements. Students must also fall under either an ethnic or non-ethnic category to qualify for a minority grant. The ethnic category helps students from different ethnic backgrounds to overcome certain hardships that ethnic minorities typically face in attending universities. The non-ethnic category assists female students, physically impaired students and students with learning disabilities.
