All information displayed on MilConnect derives from the associated DMDC ID. Individuals with an active DMDC ID can access MilConnect to view their information; however, only sponsors are permitted to view information for their family members.

Sponsors, who are active duty members and reservists of the Marines, Navy and Army, can view personnel data for their family members. Sponsors must possess an appropriate account to access MilConnect to view supporting applications, such as the Beneficiary Web Enrollment Program. Sponsors can update contact information stored in the DEERS database, manage TRICARE enrollments, view current health care information, transfer education benefits to family members, obtain proof of coverage and more.

The DMDC is part of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The DMDC is responsible for collating personnel, manpower, financial and training data for the DOD. Data collected by the DMDC is catalogued to document the history of military personnel and their family members for administrative, health care and retirement purposes.
