Tomas Regalado and Leonard Curry were among the mayors of Florida's major cities in 2015. Jack Seiler, Randall Henderson and Buddy Dyer also were mayors in key municipalities during 2015.
Regalado was elected as Miami's mayor in 2009 and re-elected in 2013. He served on the Miami Board of Commissioners in the previous 12 years. Curry, who was elected Jacksonville's mayor in 2015, is a former chairman of the Florida Republican Party.
Seiler has been re-elected twice since he became Fort Lauderdale's mayor in 2009. He served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives prior to becoming mayor. Henderson was elected as Fort Meyers' mayor in 2009 and was re-elected in 2013. He also is president of the Florida League of Mayors for the 2015-2016 term.
Dyer has served as Orlando's mayor since 2003. Dyer previously was a 10-year member of the Florida State Senate, including three years as Democratic Senate Leader.
Andrew Gillum has been mayor of Florida's capital city, Tallahassee, since 2014. Gillum became the youngest elected member of the Tallahassee City Commission while still a student at Florida A&M University in 2003.
Tampa has been led by Mayor Robert Buckhorn since 2011. Buckhorn previously served with the Tampa City Council and as special assistant to former Mayor Sandra Freeman.
