Inmates held at the Los Angeles Police Department Jail Division can be located by calling 213-356-3400. You must have the inmate’s full name and date of birth to confirm he is being held at the jail.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff has an online search tool. You must enter the inmate’s last name and first name, but middle name and date of birth are optional fields. You can also call the Sheriff’s Department at 213-473-6080 to search for an inmate at the county jail. There is a two-hour delay between an inmate’s booking and when the inmate information is available to the public.

The state of California may also have inmates incarcerated in Los Angeles. The location of these inmates can be determined by using the online inmate locator on the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation website.

Los Angeles inmates may also be housed at the Federal Bureau of Prisons Metropolitan Detention Center. If the inmate has not yet been sentenced, you can obtain inmate information by calling 213-485-0439. If the inmate has been sentenced and designated at the MDC, you can check the FBOP online inmate locator.
