The aircraft carrier USS Ranger was built for the United States Navy in the 1950s as the first angled deck ship. The ship was commissioned in 1957 and it served in the Vietnam War, the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.
The USS Ranger had a capacity of 3,800 officers and it featured an air wing of up to 90 aircraft. The ship received 13 Battle Stars for its service in the Vietnam War. It also appeared in television programs, such as "The Six Million Dollar Man," and movies, including "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" and "Top Gun." The ship was decommissioned in 1993 and sold for scrap in 2014.
