According to the Center for American Progress and the Bureau of Justice statistics in 2012, one in every three black men can expect to serve in prison in their lifetimes. The same report also disclosed that African Americans are twice as likely to be arrested compared with white people. The Department of Education also stated that far more black Americans are arrested in comparison with white Americans. The NAACP also reported that although white people use drugs five times more than African Americans, black people are 10 times more likely to be sent to prison for drug offenses.
The rate of black Americans committing violent crimes increased the year Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. According to the new data from the Department of Justice, the average violent crime committed by African Americans against white Americans was 560,600 from 2012 to 2013, while white people only committed 99,403 violent crimes against black American during the same period. Interestingly, African Americans attacked African Americans almost as often as they attacked white Americans.
