Government grants are not awarded to just anyone for any reason. A person or organization must meet the eligibility requirements set forth for each grant in order to be approved. Different types of grants have different requirements. Websites like USA.gov can assist in making the determination of whether or not a person meets eligibility requirements for the grant they may wish to apply for.
The first step in receiving grant money from the government after determining eligibility is to apply for the grant. If a person is applying for a grant to help with education expenses, submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required. In order to search for grants and apply for other available grants, one must download, complete and submit the Grant Application Package available on Grants.gov. The status of grant applications can also be tracked at Grants.gov. Educational grant applicants receive notification of approval via email and postal mail, and the status of these grants cannot be tracked through Grants.gov.Learn more about US Government
