The FBI Ten Most Wanted list is available online and can be accessed by going to the FBI home page and clicking the Most Wanted link. The site provides detailed information about the fugitives, their crimes, identifying scars and marks, as well as additional photographs.
The FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives was created on March 14, 1950, as a result of the immense interest generated by a request from a reporter for the International News Service while writing a story about the “toughest guys” the Bureau would like to capture. That interest prompted FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to implement the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives program. Since its inception, 504 fugitives have been on the list, and 473 have been located or captured, as of 2015.
