How do you exchange an item through an AAFES Exchange location?

Quick Answer

To return or exchange an item purchased at an Army and Air Force Exchange Service Exchange location, present the item within the return period with a valid receipt. The Exchange provides a refund through the same payment method as the original purchase or as an Exchange gift card. The Exchange only issues an Exchange gift card in the amount of the current merchandise price if the customer does not present a valid receipt. Most items have a 90-day return window.

The Exchange does not except returns on some items, including gift and prepaid cards, underwear, breast pumps and bathing suits. Other non-refundable items include firearms, ammunition and personalized items. The Exchange only accepts some items in unopened packaging, including iPods, software, video games, movies and music. These items must be returned within 15 days for a refund.

The Exchange also only accepts returns of global positioning satellite devices, tablets and computers within 15 days. Other items have a 30-day return window, including major appliances, mattresses, furniture, jewelry and watches. This also includes some categories of electronics, such as digital cameras, televisions and camcorders.

To replace items outside of the return and exchange period, contact the manufacturer to determine if the item is under warranty.
