An example of an authoritarian leader is a dictator, or someone who leads with total power. This type of leader does not take into consideration any input from his or her constituents or advisers.
Authoritarian leaders are most commonly found in military, street gang, or mafia organizations. The most famous example of an authoritarian leader is Adolf Hitler, who held an absolute dictatorship in Germany. He served as a dictator for the country from 1933 until his suicide in 1945. He leveraged the Nazis to take away personal freedoms from the German Jews, and he expanded his power to other countries during World War II.
