An authorized representative or adult member of the applicant's household must sign the application and swear under penalty of perjury. Once the application is submitted, a representative is assigned and an interview is scheduled. When attending the interview, you must bring proof of Social Security numbers for all household members, immigration status if applicable, gross income, evidence of any disability, utility expenses, medical expenses and child support obligations.

Once all information is verified and you're deemed eligible, you should receive your benefits within 30 days of the date of your application. You may also qualify for expedited service, which could provide you with benefits within three days if you qualify. Qualification factors for expedited services include households with less than $150 in monthly gross income with $100 or less in liquid resources, or destitute migrant or seasonal farm workers.
